Build muscle
Whey, creatine and BCAAs for the protein and training basics.
Muscle is built by lifting progressively heavier and eating enough protein: about 1.6–2.2 g per kg of body weight a day for most lifters. A scoop of whey protein adds 20–25 g, and creatine monohydrate at 3–5 g a day is the most researched supplement for strength and size. BCAAs are optional when your protein intake is already high. Gain weight
Mass and high-protein gainers for extra daily calories.
Gaining weight needs a steady calorie surplus of roughly 300–500 kcal a day. A mass gainer adds 500–1,250 kcal in one shake, which helps if big meals are a struggle. Pick a high-calorie gainer for the fastest gains, or a lean gainer (closer to 1:1 carbs to protein) to add size with less fat. Weight gain guides →

Lose fat
Fat burners, L-carnitine, CLA and caffeine for your cut.
Fat loss comes from eating fewer calories than you burn, and supplements only help at the edges. Keep protein high to hold on to muscle while you diet. Caffeine-based fat burners can help with energy and appetite, while L-carnitine and CLA are popular stimulant-free options. Check the total caffeine and avoid stacking several stimulant products. Train harder
Pre, intra and post-workout formulas for every session.
Caffeine is the best-researched performance aid: about 3–6 mg per kg of body weight, 30–60 minutes before training. A pre-workout pairs it with citrulline for pump and beta-alanine for endurance (the tingling is harmless). For long or double sessions, sip EAAs or an electrolyte drink while you train. Recover faster
Glutamine, ZMA and recovery blends for between sessions.
Most recovery happens while you sleep and eat, so 7–9 hours of sleep and enough protein matter more than any capsule. Glutamine and recovery blends can help on high-volume days, and ZMA (zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6) is useful when your diet is low in these minerals. Amino acid guides →

Daily wellness
Multivitamins, minerals and fish oil for everyday nutrition.
A daily multivitamin covers small gaps in your diet, and omega-3 fish oil supplies EPA and DHA, which vegetarian diets rarely provide. Vitamin D deficiency is common in India despite the sunshine, so it is worth testing your levels and supplementing if they are low. Vitamin & wellness guides →

Immunity & joints
Immunity, joint, collagen and liver support formulas.
Vitamin C, zinc and herbal immunity blends support everyday immune health. If heavy training leaves your joints sore, joint support formulas with glucosamine and chondroitin, collagen and omega-3 are the most popular choices. Health guides →

Men's health
Testosterone boosters and formulas made for men.
Testosterone boosters use ingredients such as ashwagandha, fenugreek, zinc and D-aspartic acid. They support healthy levels rather than pushing them beyond normal, and work best when your sleep, body fat and training are already in order. See a doctor if you have symptoms of low testosterone. How to choose gym supplements for your goal
A plain-language guide to the best gym supplements in India for each goal: what works, what to buy first and how to make sure it’s genuine.
By the Beast Nutrition team · Updated November 2026
Start with food, training and sleep
Supplements are exactly that: a supplement to a good diet, consistent training and 7–9 hours of sleep. They make it easier to hit your protein and calorie targets and can add a little to performance, but they can’t make up for a poor routine. Get the basics in place first, then use supplements to close the gaps.
The gym supplements most people should start with
- Protein powder. Whey concentrate is the most economical, whey isolate suits people who are sensitive to lactose, and plant protein works for vegans. One scoop gives about 20–25 g of protein.
- Creatine monohydrate. 3–5 g a day, every day, at any time of day. A loading phase is optional.
- Multivitamin and omega-3. They cover the small gaps most everyday diets leave.
These three suit almost every goal. Everything else (gainers, pre-workouts, fat burners, amino acids) depends on what you are training for.
Which supplements suit which goal
| Goal | Start with | Add if needed |
|---|---|---|
| Build muscle | Whey protein, creatine | EAAs or BCAAs, multivitamin |
| Gain weight | Mass gainer, creatine | Whey protein between meals |
| Lose fat | Whey or isolate protein | Fat burner, L-carnitine, CLA |
| Train harder | Pre-workout, creatine | EAAs or electrolytes for long sessions |
| Recover faster | Protein, creatine | Glutamine, ZMA |
| Everyday health | Multivitamin, omega-3 | Vitamin D, joint support |
Gym supplements for beginners
If you are new to training, keep it simple: whey protein and creatine are enough for your first six months. Leave fat burners, testosterone boosters and high-stimulant pre-workouts until your diet and training are consistent; early on they add cost and stimulants without much benefit. Our beginner guides explain the basics in plain language.
Mass gainer or whey protein?
Whey protein adds protein with few calories (about 100–130 kcal a scoop), so it suits lean muscle gain and fat loss. A mass gainer adds carbohydrates and calories as well (500–1,250 kcal a serving), so it suits skinny lifters and hard gainers who struggle to eat enough. Many people use both: a gainer once a day and whey after training.
How to buy genuine supplements in India
- Imported products must carry the importer’s name and address and an FSSAI licence number, printed on the label or on a sticker.
- Check the batch number, manufacturing date and expiry, and use the brand’s scratch code or QR check where one is offered.
- Be wary of prices far below MRP from unknown sellers; fake and expired stock is common.
Every product at Beast Nutrition comes directly from the brand or its authorised importer. Read how we guarantee authenticity.
Use supplements safely
Stick to the serving size on the label and avoid combining several caffeine products in one day. If you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, take regular medication or have a medical condition, check with your doctor before starting any supplement.
FAQs
Gym supplement questions
Which supplement is best for muscle gain?
For most people, whey protein and creatine monohydrate. Whey makes it easier to reach about 1.6–2.2 g of protein per kg of body weight a day, and creatine is the most researched supplement for strength and muscle size. Add a mass gainer only if you also need extra calories.
What gym supplements should a beginner take?
Start with whey protein and creatine monohydrate. They are affordable, well studied and useful for almost every goal. Leave pre-workouts, fat burners and testosterone boosters until your diet and training are consistent.
Can I take whey protein and creatine together?
Yes. Mixing 3–5 g of creatine into your protein shake is an easy way to take both. Taking creatine every day matters more than the time of day.
Should I take a mass gainer or whey protein to gain weight?
If you struggle to eat enough, a mass gainer is the easier way to add 500–1,250 kcal a day. If you already eat plenty and want lean muscle, whey protein is enough.
Do fat burners work without diet and exercise?
No. A calorie deficit does the work. Fat burners can help a little with energy and appetite, mostly through caffeine, so use them alongside a diet and training plan, not instead of one.
When should I take a pre-workout?
About 30–60 minutes before training. If it contains caffeine, avoid taking it within six hours of bedtime because it can disturb your sleep.
How do I know a supplement is genuine?
On imported products, check for the importer’s name and FSSAI licence number, a valid batch number and expiry date, and the brand’s authenticity code where one is offered. Everything at Beast Nutrition comes directly from brands and their authorised importers.
