Fatal Mishap Kills Assam Fitness Model, Injures One

GUWAHATI: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a youth and another youth was left injured in the Lakhimpur district of Assam at around 4:30 AM today, Tuesday, January 3, 2022.

The accident occurred when the speeding vehicle tumbled down the Bhogpur overbridge near Bihpuria town which falls under the jurisdiction of Narayanpur Police Station in Lakhimpur, Assam.

According to sources, the vehicle was en route to Guwahati from Dhemaji when the SUV bearing the vehicle number plate AS- 22G 7525 lost its balance owing to dense fog in the wee hours of the morning and skidded down the Bhogpur overbridge.

The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Siddhart Borgohain who was a fitness model while the injured youth has been identified as 29-year-old Pulakesh Gogoi, both hailing from Dhemaji district.

Narayanpur Police officials rushed to the spot and found Siddhart Borgohain spot dead and Pulakesh Gogoi seriously injured. Gogoi was then admitted to the Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital for treatment while the body of Siddhart has been sent for post-mortem.

Speaking to G Plus, the Officer-In-Charge (OC) of the Narayanpur Police Station, Dulal Gogoi said, “The incident took place at around 4:30 AM today when the speeding vehicle was en route to Guwahati from Dhemaji.”

The OC informed G Plus, “The speeding vehicle lost control on the small Bhogpur overbridge near Bihpuria town which falls under the jurisdiction of the Narayanpur Police Station resulting in the instant death and injury of the people travelling.”

OC, Narayanpur Police Station further informed, “The visibility concerns resulting from the dense fog in the wee hours of the morning along with the driver losing control and balance behind the steering wheel is what caused the fatal accident.”
